The Genesee County Prevention Coalition work groups bring community partners together to focus on specific priorities that support the coalition’s mission. Through collaboration, members share expertise, identify community needs, and develop strategies that advance prevention efforts, strengthen resources, and create sustainable solutions that improve the health and well-being of the community. Policy & Advocacy

Workgroup virtual meeting 9:00am-10:30am, quarterly

The GCPC policy and advocacy workgroup goal is to engage community leaders and policy makers to advocate or support sustainable policies to address substance use and mental health concerns through community-driven actions.

Initiative Focus:

  • Cannabis Retailers and Cannabis Marketing Regulation
  • No menthol/End Menthol Legislation
  • Youth Advocacy Mobilization
  • Vape Disposal/Hazardous waste Policies

Health & Education

Workgroup virtual meeting 9:00am-10:30am, monthly

The GCPC Health and Education workgroup goal is to affect community norms through evidence-based or data-driven health education campaigns and create opportunities to increase actionable empowerment of individuals to reduce risks or enhance protection.

Initiative Focus:

  • 3rd Millennium Classroom
  • Lethal Means Safety Training
  • Youth Advocacy Training

Data & Evaluation

The Data and Evaluation workgroup goal is to build capacity, effect policy and support long-term outcomes by exchanging health related data.

Outreach & Engagement

The GCPC outreach and engagement workgroup goal is to strengthen collaboration among organizations by fostering connection, reducing duplication of efforts, and collectively addressing shared challenges. Expanding visibility through shared platforms and promote sustainability to amplify collective impact

Youth Engagement
