Planned Parenthood- Beyond the Birds and the Bees: How to Talk to Your Teens About Sex and Other Difficult Topics
Planned Parenthood of Michigan believes that people of all ages have the right to learn about their sexuality and develop skills to make healthy decisions about their bodies and relationships. Whether you are a health and human services professional, teacher, religious leader, parent/caregiver or trusted adult, student, or concerned citizen, PPMI can design, deliver, and evaluate educational sessions that are customized to meet the needs of your learners.
Our experienced educators tailor each training session or presentation to the needs of the audience.
Training & Consultation
Experienced facilitators offer up-to-date training to build knowledge, skills, curricula, and educational resources. Youth workers, students, health professionals, community and religious leaders, social workers, teachers, and administrators all benefit from training and consulting services.
Presentations
As a nonprofit agency, PPMI is funded by grants, program fees, and contributions. We offer some programs for free. For other programs, we ask $150/hour for education presentations and $300/hour for professional trainings. Schedule a training by emailing the Flint Community Outreach Educator, cerra.houston@ppmi.org, or Education Manager, renita.bingham@ppmi.org.
Community Outreach
Trained educators present to classes, support groups, health fairs, community gatherings, organizations, workshops, and/or conferences. We table at health fairs and other events. We serve on local advisory committees, councils, and national networks that promote reproductive health, education, and access.
Beyond the Birds and the Bees is a FREE workshop for parents and trusted adults exploring how to talk to teens and young people about sex and other difficult issues. This program is grant-funded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families as a part of the Taking Pride in Prevention program. Groups and organizations that would like this workshop are invited to call or email.
We also take workshop requests. If you have a group or organization and would like us to do a presentation on a specific topic for trusted adults and parents, please let us know.
