Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center (MiPDC)
The Michigan Poison and Drug Information Center at the Wayne State University School of Medicine is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent poisonings, reduce severity of toxic exposures, educate care-givers and professionals, and promote poison prevention by providing high-quality toxicological expertise. Physicians, pharmacists, poison center specialists, and educators with the Michigan Poison and Drug Information Center are principal information resources available to Michigan residents and health care professionals for poisonings and toxin-related emergencies.
Our center imparts expert guidance to callers, educates health care providers and laypersons via outreach throughout the state, collaborates with state agencies, and participates in dynamic clinical research. These efforts culminate in the Michigan Poison and Drug Information Center, which fosters the progressive development of standards and practices for treating and preventing toxic exposures.
The Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center is the regional poison control center serving the entire state of Michigan. We are nationally accredited by America’s Poison Centers. Our Specialists in Poison Information are registered nurses, pharmacists, and physicians with national certification in poison information who provide free, confidential, non-judgmental, and expert advice for poison-related emergencies and health-related questions 24/7/365. Our clinical toxicology consulting team is available to advise healthcare professionals throughout Michigan around the clock and every day of the year. Specialists and consultants can be reached by calling the Poison Helpline at 1-800-222-1222. Our poison center educators and clinical consulting team conduct ongoing research to improve poison-related outcomes and provide public and professional education services and tools.
