ABOUT INVOLVEDDAD

InvolvedDad empowers and equips fathers and father figures with tools, strategies, and services to  demonstrate responsible fatherhood and become more engaged in the success of their family and  children lives by providing training, coaching, and peer support in a safe environment with other  men. Our programs utilize a combination of research-based and best practice techniques facilitated by  licensed professionals in the field of Human Services and exemplary graduates of InvolvedDad’s programs. Our programs invite, encourage, and challenge men to face the issues and wounds that prevented them  from being the fathers/ father figures and men their family and children need them to be.

InvolvedDad’s Purpose:

  • Address emotional trauma and thought processes that cause men to be absent from their  children’s lives, including growing up fatherless, historical prejudice and abuse.
  • Re-establish healthy co-parenting relationships with the mothers/caregivers of their children to stabilize fragile families.
  • Build men’s confidence and personal skills so they can be successful providers and leaders for  their families.
  • Provide men with the tools they need to feel like capable fathers, by providing examples of  fatherhood strategies for urban and suburban communities that struggle with fatherlessness.

Programming & Resources for Clients:

IMPACT – Our flagship program, IMPACT, is a 15-week program operated in collaboration with the  Genesee County Friend of the Court, Legal Services of Eastern Michigan, and Motherly Intercession. In this  program, we pair fathers with mentor coaches, conduct weekly group sessions with men (10x’s), and their  children (5x’s). We also engage mothers/caregivers to purposefully build healthy co-parenting relationships

with the IMPACT dads. As a result of the program, during 2021, we helped 34 men re-engage with their  children, several men secured employment, improved their living situation, and overcame a variety of  barriers to success.

Family Matters – Family Matters Supervised Visitation & Exchange Service was established to provide a  forum for children and non-custodial parents to develop or re-establish ongoing familial relationships in a  safe environment. This service affords the non-custodial parent the opportunity to spend time with his/her  child(ren) in a neutral setting without interference from the custodial parent or other interested parties.

LEAD – Lead is leadership program created with IMPACT graduates in mind. LEAD allows InvolvedDad staff  to teach, train, and develop IMPACT graduates into leaders, mentor coaches and facilitators to support new  IMPACT enrollees and provide strategic engagement strategies to professionals that work with males  directly and indirectly. We have also created a non-IMPACT graduate tract, which allows various  opportunities and pathways for qualified community members to become part of the LEAD leadership  training program.

The Kings’ Table – A peer to peer men’s group that meets on a weekly or biweekly basis to discuss various topics ranging from being fiscally responsible, investing, business strategies for success, childhood trauma, parenting and co-parenting tips, personal development, home ownership, physical and mental health, and so much more. This focused group discussion builds solidarity throughout the group allowing men to be open and vulnerable about their fears, concerns, worries and problems without judgement or backlash. We have developed simple approaches to engage them while promoting active and responsible manhood and fatherhood.

Domestic Violence/Anger Management – Due to an increase in domestic violence and assault, InvolvedDad offers closed domestic violence groups using the DAIP model, “Domestic Abuse Intervention Program” for men who batter.

1st Time Fathers – Virtual video course taught by professionals and experts in various fields that contribute to children and family success. This course is ideal for new and existing fathers that have challenges with parenting. This course allows fathers that would like to learn and grow at their own pace, without having to attend large group class sessions. This video training course educates dads on how to support moms during and after pregnancy, the proper way to put their child to sleep preventing crib death, how to effectively co-parent, navigate the (FOC) judicial system, and how build a strong and healthy foundation for their family and child. There are 12 topics with over 100hrs of content. The student has the option to attend monthly zoom meetings to discuss the video course material, become part of a private Facebook support group, and receive daily fathering tips.
